Container Garden Porn

Just a little mid-week tomato porn.  The cherry tomatoes are really producing:

My daughter can barely wait to get these inside before eating:

This little bushy plant has been kicking out a ton of tomatoes for its size:

The San Marzanos have been a disappointment however:

Why?  Blossom end rot is why.  Apparently it is the result of inconsistent or insufficient water or problems with calcium uptake.  Well, a brutal drought would answer the water issue.  The calcium uptake problem?  No clue.  Lessons need to be learned.

I am also getting peppers:

The problem with the San Marzanos gets me down a little bit, but that is the beauty of gardening.  You jot down some notes and get cracking on next year’s plan.  I think I am going to return to more traditional–for my part of the world–varieties like Roma or Amish Paste.  Or, I fall victim to the siren song of the Seed Savers catalog and the beauty of rarely seen heirloom varieties.  Sigh, first world problems…
