This is the inaugural Joni Ernst Watch where I try to bring attention to the latest whack musings of the junior senator from the great state of Iowa. This space will probably be a little quiet until she actually takes office in January
However, Joni “Make ‘em squeal” Ernst is rarely without something to say.
Just a day after her victory over Bruce Braley, she’s already wading into the waters of Republican hate for the sitting President. Speaking to Greta Van Susteren about President Obama’s address following the mid-terms:
Well, I think it’s a little disingenuous at this point. He has had six years to work with Republicans. And now he is offering a hand and willing to sit down and work with Senator McConnell and our other soon- to-be colleagues. Again, six years we have had that opportunity to work together and move America in the right direction. But, he has been so disengaged and not willing to work with Republicans or even some members of his own party.
How is anything the president said disingenuous? Prior to the mid-term, his party controlled one-half of Congress which is a fact that most Republican chose to ignore for the past four years as they were the party of no. It’s a new dynamic and the president realizes this fact.
Remember, this is a candidate who had surrogates—funded by your friends and mine the Koch Brothers—air advertisements that came just short of calling President Obama the Kenyan-born anti-Christ. Heck, if the ads had pulled out a demon sheep I would not have been surprised one bit.
Apparently, Ernst is now considered one of the kingmakers of the Republican Party because she is the flavor of the month in a state that holds an early contest for nominating candidates to run for President of the United States of America. Could you imagine if this election cycle Michele Bachmann had run for president? The crazy might have opened up a rift in the space time continuum and sucked all sanity into oblivion.
