The Joni Ernst Watch 5/11/2014

When it comes to Joni “Make ‘em squeal” Ernst or Steve King it’s clown shoes all day, every day. Recently, the conversation in Iowa has turned away from our homegrown whack-a-doos and focused on the nutcase circus that will be the Republican caucus.

Joni Ernst can’t get away from her desire to make ‘em squeal. Referencing the GOP budget plan she said:

I think we all are going to be squealing in the meantime. We really do have to look at government and what we’re doing. What are the things that we need to do, and what are the things that we shouldn’t be doing?

Steve King just felt that all the Republican presidential candidates were stealing his thunder. So, he decided to open his mouth and insert his foot on a couple of occasions over the past week.   Speaking on immigration King struck a conciliatory tone when he suggested:

Immigration is really… there’s a way I can make an accommodation. I did this in a debate once when my opponents challenged me. And I just said, “Well I’m for open borders” and that did get their attention. I said, ‘well sure, every time we let an immigrant in, we’ll deport a Leftist,’ I’ll make that deal all day long.

This guy is just full of snark and wit. Apparently the ol’ representative from the great state of Iowa felt that the discourse needed a little Karl Marx banter:

And his calculation is not what’s true and just and right or even good for America — it’s how can he exploit his power base and move our country to the left toward the ideology of Karl Marx, how far can he go and get away with it.

Do these guys just spew and spew until something sticks with their base and people get excited? Have they ever actually read anything written by Karl Marx?

Now that Ben Carson has announced he is running for the Republican nomination it’s time to get to know the neurosurgeon who hopes to run a better campaign than Herman Cain by looking at seven ridiculous things that he believes in:

  • Anarchy could cancel the 2016 election
  • Congress should be able to remove judges for voting for marriage equality
  • Being gay is a choice because prison turns people gay
  • There’s no such thing as a war crime
  • Obamacare is the worst thing since slavery
  • Obama is depressing the economy to keep people on welfare
  • Obama signed immigration reform to bring in government-dependent voters

Is this really the same Rick Santorum from a few years ago?

Scott Walker just made my “creepers to watch out for” list.
