When it comes to Joni “Make ‘em squeal” Ernst or Steve King it’s clown shoes all day, every day. Recently, the conversation in Iowa has turned away from our homegrown whack-a-doos and focused on the nutcase circus that will be the Republican caucus.
Do you want an idea of what the world should look like according to Ted Cruz and his newest parrot Steve King? Look no further than Steve King stumping for Cruz in Sioux County, Iowa:
I want to build an America that looks like Sioux County looks. Do what Sioux County does, and direct the destiny of the caucuses. You know you offset other parts of the state. Please, do that again.
All right, Sioux County is nearly 100% white—99.6% to be exact—so this is naturally the place that a bigot like Steve King would want America to look like.
It is also interesting to watch Steve King contort himself into a logical pretzel when it comes to Ted Cruz’s citizenship:
He’s a citizen by virtue of his birth to a mother who is an American citizen and a father who soon became one.
All right, by this definition was there any question about Barack Obama’s citizenship or ability to be President? Oh wait, he’s brown so there is that whole problem. And a Democrat. My bad.
On the other side of the line were people like Steve Sessions, where people like Iowa’s own Steve King, and I stood with Jeff Sessions and Steve King. And we led the fight to defeat the Gang of Eight amnesty plan, to preserve the rule of law and to fight to secure our borders. And you know, it’s interesting. A lot of presidential candidates suddenly have discovered illegal immigration is an issue. I’ll point out, Sean, you remember that 2013 fight. You were standing there leading the fight, Mark Levin was leading the fight, Rush was leading the fight. You look at the men and women standing on that debate stage, in 2013 when Obama was on the verge of getting his amnesty win, most of the other men and women on that debate stage were nowhere to be found.
It’s a world where Rush Limbaugh provides policy insight. It’s also a world where bad Photoshop jobs are used to drum up cash money.
As the standoff with the “armed militia” in Oregon stretches on and no one really seems to care, it’s interesting to see the information that comes out regarding Ammon Bundy. The supposedly anti-government rancher was the beneficiary of a small business loan program administered by the federal government. Handouts are okay if you are a rancher in right wing world.
